Temporary Skill Shortage visa (Subclass 482)

482 Visa

The temporary skill shortage visa (subclass 482) enables employers to address labour shortages by bringing in genuinely skilled workers where they cannot source a skilled Australian national. TSS visa holders can work in Australia in their nominated occupation for their approved sponsor.

Eligibility requirements

Be nominated to work in an occupation on the Short Term Skilled Occupation List (STSOL) or Medium and Long Term Strategic Skill List (MLTSSL)
Have at least 2 years of relevant work experience in the nominated occupation or a related field
Have a relevant skills assessment (if required)
Work only for your sponsor or associated entity unless exempt
Meet minimum standards of English language proficiency unless exempt
Meet health and character requirements

Benefits of a Temporary Skill Shortage visa (Subclass 482)

  • Work in Australia for up to 2 years or up to 4 years if an International Trade Obligation (ITO) applies.  
  • Travel to and from Australia as many times as required
  • Apply for permanent residence, if applicable
