Temporary Parent Visa Sponsorship (Subclass 870)
This visa enables the parents of an Australian citizen or permanent resident to be sponsored for an extended temporary stay in Australia. This visa does not lead to permanent residency. It allows the parents to remain in Australia for a longer period of time, up to five years at a time, without departing.
Eligibility requirements
Have an approved Parent Sponsor before applying for this visa
Provide evidence of adequate health insurance
Not permitted to work while in Australia
Provide evidence of access to sufficient funds to meet the costs of their stay in Australia
Lodge your visa application within 6 months of the sponsorship approval, or 60 days if you are given Permission to Apply in Australia
