820 Visa

The onshore partner visa (subclass 820 & 801) allows the partner or spouse of an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen to live in Australia. Getting this visa is the first step toward a permanent Partner visa (subclass 801).

Eligibility requirements for a Partner Visa (Temporary) (Subclass 309)

Be in a genuine relationship with your spouse or de facto partner who is an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen
Be older than 18 years of age and not related to the partner by family.
Be in Australia when you apply for this visa

Benefits of Partner (Provisional) Visa (Subclass 309)

  • Live, work and study in Australia as your permanent Partner (Migrant) visa gets processed
  • Travel to and from Australia as many times as required
  • Attend free English language, if eligible

Eligibility requirements for a a Partner Visa (Permanent) (Subclass 801)

Hold a temporary Partner visa (subclass 820)
In most cases, continue to be in a married or de facto relationship with your sponsor
